- Will a pool fit in my yard?
Most counties and cities have yard set backs of five feet from the property line. This means the pool needs to be at least five feet away from the property line. In addition, if your sewer or septic tank is near by, it must be 10 feet away or more. Another issue may be if you have a corner lot; sometimes the set back then is 35 feet from a side street. Below are a list of some numbers that may be helpful in answering these questions for you.
- Spokane County Department of Building & Planning 509-477-3675

- City of Spokane Building Permits 509-625-6300

- Spokane Regional Health District (sewer/septic) 509-324-1560

- Can I have a diving board/slide?
Diving boards and slides require a 18 x 36 pool with an 8 foot deep end. Check with your homeowners insurance, some policies do not cover diving boards or slides.
Check out your gas and electric situation. Will there be easy access to hook up your pool equipment? Do you need to move gas lines?
- Take a good look at your yard. Excessive excavation is an extra expense. This means, is your back yard solid rock?
Another example is huge tree stumps. One day is the usual time to dig the hole for the pool. Anything past that time that is directly related to the yard can be extra.
